More pictures....

This is Regent's Park, where I took a walk with some friends the other day. London has so many beautiful parks and it's really nice to just take some time and walk around in them!
These are my roomates Amelia on the left and Lily on the right. Yesterday we went and walked around The Big Ben/Westminster Abbey area. It was sunny yesterday so it was great to walk around!
This is a painting in the National Gallery. The National Gallery is in Trafalgar Square and it's HUGE! I spent a few hours in the gallery and didn't even see half of it. This was my favorite painting though...I think it's so beautiful.
This is the view outside of the National Gallery looking at Trafalgar Square. I love this picture.
 So I found Nemo when I went to the London Aquarium. The aquarium wasn't as cool as I thought it would be. They were doing so much renovation which caused a lot of the exhibits to be closed. But I love water and sea creatures so it was still pretty cool.

A town called Bath!

The historic part of Bath

I feel like an adult...

Today was the first day of my life I've actually felt like a grown up! I left my flat by myself and navigated my way to my internship. By myself. My internship is at Fearnhurst Public Relations, a fashion and lifestyle PR firm about 30 minutes away from my flat. I got on the tube alone (which is also scary) and rode three stops until the baker street stop, which is where my internship is. I walk about 5 minutes after getting off the tube and then I'm at the building where I'll be interning. The town where I'm interning is so beautiful, it's probably most famous for being home to the Madame Toussoud's Wax museum. I explored around for awhile and then made my way back to my flat. I cannot explain how great it felt to get to somewhere I needed to go, on my own, on a different continent! It was really empowering! I will be interning from 9 am until 5 pm on Monday and Wednesday every week. My internship and classes start tomorrow. Time for the real world!

Tours of London

Today we took two tours in London. The first one was a bus tour that was four hours long! We saw the most famous sites of London such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, The London Bridge and many other sites. We got to get out and take pictures of some of them but most of the tour took place on the bus. Our guide was so cute and knew so much about London. Our second tour was around the district we live in called Maida Vale. The town I live in is called Little Venice but the district is Maida Vale. Anyways, this tour was a two hour walking tour. In the rain. And sleet. And it was freezing. But besides that the tour was really interesting and informative. London is so cool, I just cannot believe how beautiful EVERY street is. History, culture and beauty ooze out of London and I cannot get enough. I'm having so much fun here! Tonight we also went to Oxford Circus, which is a huge shopping area. London has the store called Primark, which is literally maybe the best thing ever. It's two stories of the best, cheapest clothes you can imagine. My friend Courtney and I walked around with our mouths open the whole time. It was unreal. We walked out with a few things too! On Thursday, we rode the tube for the first time and went to the building we will be taking classes from. Again, it's in the most adorable town called Holborn. (Grandma and Grandad, if you're reading this, Holborn is where Great Russell Street is. I'll take a picture of it for you!) Then we took the bus home instead of the tube, just to get familiar with all methods of transportation. Then later that night we just hung out in the flat. Tomorrow we are going on a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath. We are still jetlagged a bit but the amazingness of London is making staying awake easier. Here is a picture of our whole group in front of The London Bridge. I'll post more pictures of our tour when I load them this weekend!

I made it!

So I'm finally in London! I'm all settled into my flat after what seems like forever. For those of you who don't know, I was supposed to leave Raleigh on the evening of Feb. 2 and fly to London. However due to snow and some plane issues our flight was cancelled and until Feb. 3. By snow I mean that on Feb. 2 it snowed more in London than it has in 20 years. Typical. The entire city was barely functioning so getting into the city on an airplane was going to be a challenge. So I headed back to Elon for the night and said hello to people I had just said goodbye to. Then I headed back to the airport during the afternoon of the 3rd and our plane left on time at 8:30 p.m. headed to London! Two movies and some turbulence later I looked down and saw London from the sky!! It was beautiful already. The pilot told us to appreciate the snow on the ground, as it basically never snows in London. We landed around 9 AM London time. One thing that we were warned about was getting through immigration. I was nervous because it's kind of intimidating but I boldly stepped up to the counter and showed the man my documents and he didn't say anything for awhile, so I was getting a little nervous! Then he looked up to me and said, "You're leaving London on May 11, that's a shame because you're going to miss my birthday!" Needless to say, I made it through immigration! We then got our bags and took about an hour bus ride to our flats. Our flats are amazing, we are staying in the nicest most beautiful neighborhood. I cannot even believe it! We went to the grocery store down the street to get some food and now we are about to have an orientation session. We are all exhausted but really excited at the same time. I'll try and post some pictures later this week!
PS I realized in the airport that I should probably stop laughing at people here when they speak. The british accent just makes me laugh out loud, but I should probably stop that since I'll be hearing it for three months!

London= tomorrow!

Well, I cannot believe that I'm leaving for London tomorrow. I made this blog so that people from home and from school can keep up with my 3 month stay in London! I'll be in London from February 2 until May 11. While in London, I'll be taking two classes and interning with a PR firm. I'm very excited but also wondering how I'm going to fit all this stuff I have into two suitcases?! Anyways, this blog is a great way to see what I'm up to, so I hope you all enjoy it!
